SHINE has joined Dynamo North East C.I.C., bringing together two regional networks with a shared ambition to use collaboration and innovation to strengthen communities across the North East of England.
Our membership of Dynamo North East, the not-for-profit membership organisation for the region’s technology sector, will create stronger links between social housing providers and technology organisations, opening up opportunities to share expertise and explore how digital technologies, data and innovation can address challenges facing the housing sector.
The two organisations also share a strong focus on creating social impact. Dynamo North East’s vision is for a North East of England where its members drive a world-class technology ecosystem that connects businesses, strengthens communities and ends digital exclusion.
Sean Lawless, a member of our steering group, said: “SHINE was created on the principle that we can achieve more for our residents and communities when organisations work together.
“Joining Dynamo North East gives us an opportunity to extend that collaboration beyond housing and build stronger relationships with the North East’s technology community. There is real potential to bring together expertise from both sectors, particularly around data, digital inclusion and the use of technology to address some of the challenges facing social housing.”
Al Alzein, General Manager at Dynamo North East, added: “SHINE and Dynamo share a lot of the same ambitions, particularly around strengthening communities and tackling digital exclusion. Bringing housing and technology organisations closer together means we can share knowledge, make useful connections and get more organisations working together across the North East of England.
“We want our members to better understand the technology challenges facing social housing, and equally for housing providers to understand the expertise and solutions available within our regional technology sector. That creates more opportunities for collaboration, while supporting innovation and economic growth across the region.”
Through its membership, events and regional initiatives, Dynamo North East works to raise the profile of the region’s technology sector, strengthen connections between organisations and support projects that create wider social and economic impact.
Its work includes the Dynamo Digital Inclusion Fund, alongside initiatives focused on technology careers, regional advocacy and collaboration. Dynamo also delivers the annual Dynamites Awards, which celebrate the achievements of the North East technology sector and bring together around 450 people from across the region each year.
SHINE will now have access to Dynamo North East’s wider network and programme of activity, providing further opportunities for housing organisations and technology businesses to connect and collaborate.
